About Me

Core Belief: I believe change is always possible, but sometimes we all need just a little help. Human beings instinctively gravitate towards happiness, but at times feel stuck with achieving this goal. It is then wise to seek assistance from a professional who can help come up with some answers to produce positive changes in your life. Approach: I take a multi-modal approach in therapy using psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and person-centered techniques. After the initial assessment, I work on developing a strong therapeutic relationship and getting to know my clients well to best help them. I may suggest activities in therapy or at home to move clients closer to their goals and increase their awareness. Training, Research & Education: I have a master’s in mental health counseling and gerontology. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Social Work and expect to graduate in 2022. I have had extensive training in bereavement, cognitive behavioral therapy, gender issues, death and dying, and human development. I have been an adjunct professor at CUNY and Adelphi University, where I taught psychology of gender, lifespan development, death and dying, and science of social issues. I have done research on geriatric suicide, sexual compulsion, and AIDS. I am currently conducting a study with 120 participants on the relationship between self-actualization and depression in later life. Work History: I have worked in clinics, healthcare, homecare, and hospice. I have treated children, teenagers, older adults, college students, transgendered people, the dying, caregivers, and people with AIDS, cancer, depression, anxiety, OCD, anorexia, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, autism, and ADHD. I have also worked with couples and families.
